Another West Coast artist, from Forest (near Smithton), Jeannine Binoth is primarily known as a textile artist and exhibiting member of the Handweavers, Spinners and Dyers Guild of Tasmania.

In recent years her attention has turned to sculpting from copper wire, copper sheet, nylon mesh and monofilament to create abstract free-standing shapes, often with a reference to the sea – as cuttlefish, a ship’s keel or vessel shapes. While her experience continues the element of free-flowing textiles, the shine and strength that comes from copper wire gives her work a surprising new dimension.
